The Commander's answer was a non-answer. "Ordinary warriors cannot sense the darkspawn as we can. Ordinary warriors have attachments we do not." Fiagaí knew those things already. That couldn't be the only reason. An order of warriors with no other home was not why he'd had to drink the darkspawn blood.
But perhaps a tavern was not the best place for things to be explained further. For all he knew, the question he'd asked had some terrible answer. Something that nobody would dare to speak if there was the slightest chance of it being overheard.
What would ordinary people do if they knew what a Warden was, anyway? As if in response, Nathaniel spoke again.
"You are correct when you say there are things you cannot tell others. Our secrets must remain that... our secrets. And if I find out you shared them with anyone outside of the order, I will be forced to conscript that person and you should know what that could mean."
Oghren excused himself and left the table. Fiagaí couldn't help feeling slightly intimidated at the departure of his one friend, such as it was, among the Wardens. He had traveled and fought with the dwarf, and felt at ease in his presence. The Commander was an unknown... and, if what he had just said was any indication, quite strict.
"I understand. A death sentence, one way or another, to anyone I tell. You can rest assured I will not do so."

Nathaniel frowned as Oghren made his excuses to leave, but did not protest and insist the dwarf remain. As ill timed as he felt the dwarf's departure might have been, Nathaniel was not entirely too sad to see him go either. Oghren's betrayal in Amaranthine still stung. With time, the bite would lessen, but for now, he let Oghren leave.
His gaze trailed briefly upon Oghren as he left, returning to Fiagai as the man spoke, "I understand. A death sentence, one way or another, to anyone I tell. You can rest assured I will not do so."
Nathaniel nodded. "Our base of operations is in Amaranthine. I am not only Warden Commander but also Arl of Amaranthine." But not like my father... "We will leave by ship to return there in four days. Until then, remember that what you do represents the Grey Wardens."
His hands pushed against the side of the table, nudging his chair back so that he could rise from his seat. "I am staying at the Castle along with another Grey Warden, a mage named Anders. Should you need anything and Oghren is..." He looked to the stairwell Oghren scaled moment's earlier. No doubt he'd gone to his room to get properly drunk. "...indisposed, you may seek either of us out there."
He offered his hand to Fiagai, "I know you have more questions and I will answer them. There are other things you should know, but this is not the environment to tell you." He was fairly certain no one was listening to them; however, when it came to mentioning Aedan and his unknown child, Nathaniel felt it best to err on the side of caution and make no mention of it in such a public locale. "On the ship home, we will talk."

The Warden-Commander nodded at his words.
"Our base of operations is in Amaranthine. I am not only Warden Commander but also Arl of Amaranthine.e will leave by ship to return there in four days. Until then, remember that what you do represents the Grey Wardens."
Don't get in trouble, in other words. Fiagaí had guessed this would happen and already told Kai he could no longer help the Collective overtly. He was going to meet Vaia tomorrow, though. And he knew about Aled's attempt to rob the Chantry. That, in particular, was probably the kind of thing Nathaniel meant he shouldn't be doing.
But neither was he obligated to run and tell the templars. He was not the one doing the deed, was he?
The Warden-Commander stood then. "I am staying at the Castle along with another Grey Warden, a mage named Anders. Should you need anything and Oghren is... indisposed, you may seek either of us out there."
Oghren seemed to end up 'indisposed' a lot. But he was far more interested to hear the new name, the one Kai had mentioned yesterday. Anders, the mage who still helped the Collective to some extent, was here. It would be good to seek him out and clarify what the boundaries were, as soon as possible. If one could be a Warden but still help mages...
"I know you have more questions and I will answer them. There are other things you should know, but this is not the environment to tell you."
Nathaniel offered his hand, and Fiagaí shook it, nodding to show his agreement with the words. More Warden secrets... what could be worse than the Joining and the taint? There was a reason the Order was needed, beyond the sixth sense. And it was probably something that only a fool would bring up in public.
"On the ship home, we will talk."
"Understood...thank you." Not knowing everything was somewhat annoying, but he could wait. He had nothing but time, now that the Wardens owned him.
